Welcome Spring!

Spring is finally here! Time to get back in touch with Mother Nature and tend to our yards and gardens. Here are some helpful tips to help you get started.

The first thing you need to do, if it is a while since you were last out in the garden is to give it a good clean up.
You will want to get rid of any garbage that might have collected and get started on tidying it up a bit.

Be on the look out for any weeds, get rid of them and then try to keep on top of clearing them. You should aim to weed your garden at regular times so that they don't get the chance to establish themselves.

Once we get to around about mid spring you will have to be mowing any lawns on a regular basis. Again aim to set a schedule of doing it weekly or perhaps even more frequently as the weather starts to get warmer.

It can be a good idea to get some spring and summer lawn fertilizer now so that you can help your grass grow. That way you will have a greener lawn to enjoy later in the year.

Now is also the best time to make sure that you have bought any gardening tools that you are going to need. For any that you already have, like shovels and shears, you will want to make sure that they are sharpened and ready to use!

Irish Blessings to all

To all our loyal guests and staff, we share with you an Irish blessing.

May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. May God be with you and bless you; may you see your children's children. May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings, May you know nothing but happiness from this day forward. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home and may the hand of a friend always be near. May green be the grass you walk on, May blue be the skies above you, May pure be the joys that surround you, May true be the hearts that love you.

Today is National White Chocolate Cheesecake Day!

March 6, 2012 is
National White Chocolate Cheesecake Day
A Greek writer named Athenaeus recorded the oldest surviving cheesecake recipe. The ancient dessert called for just three ingredients—cheese, honey, and flour. Despite its simplicity, the Greeks believed that cheesecake had special powers. Brides and grooms ate it as wedding cake, and athletes enjoyed it before the first Olympic games in 776 BC!
The cheesecake we know and love today relies heavily on cream cheese, which wasn’t invented until the 1870s. By the early 1900s, cheesecake appeared on almost every restaurant menu in New York City and soon became a nationwide sensation. People love to experiment with interesting cheesecake flavors like piña colada, turtle, pumpkin pecan, crème brûlée, red velvet, and today's reason to celebrate, white chocolate.
To celebrate National White Chocolate Cheesecake Day, bake a delicious white chocolate cheesecake or pick one up from your local bakery!
